Strum Along With Me

See how beautiful the purple, green and deep blue appear printed over the gray.  I'm cutting the black stencil now and then I'll cut the stencil for the strings and print it in a light silver grey.  Decided to title this
print "Guitar Boogie" and frame one up for my show at the Kramer Gallery on Thursday, February 7.
Should be able to finish this tomorrow.
Stay tuned.

Getting in Tune

The addition of the grey and the purple mark significant progress on this piece.  The grey is the underprinting for four different colors.  It will insure that the four colors,(deep blue, deep green, deep purple and black), will have a nice depth to them when I cut the stencils and print them in the next few days.  The last thing that I will print on this piece is the strings on all four guitars.  I'm anticipating that it will be tricky, in that each string is a different width.
I plan to be very careful.  Hope you'll stay tuned and see how this print finishes.

Can You See Them Now?

An excellent day of printing has yielded some revealing information on this new print.  I've cut several stencils to print tomorrow which will really begin to flesh out this image.  It's going to be something very different for me.  Stay tuned.

Beginning a New Print

As in all new beginnings it is very difficult to tell what is happening.  After four colors, I don't want to spoil what's coming next.  I will tell you that I took a little trip to Chuck Levin's music store in Wheaton.
The manager, Adam, was extremely nice and allowed me to roam the store with my camera, taking lots of terrific photos that I hope will inspire some great new work.  I will tell you that this image will be very colorful and bold.  I also think that after my next post you'll really be able to see this image coming together.
Hope you'll check back soon.

All Finished

Printed the trees to finish this great image of the Silver Spring ice rink on Ellsworth Street.  This piece will be unveiled Thursday, February 7 at the reception for my exhibit at the Kramer Gallery at 5:30 PM.  The showing is open to the public and I hope you will plan on attending.
See you there.

Nearing the Finish Line

Finished printing the black stencil and dark purple and am cutting a silver grey stencil for the trees.  That will culminate my printing and this piece will be finished.  Hope you can come to the Kramer Gallery in Silver Spring to see my show and join me at the reception on Thursday evening, February 7, from 5:30 - 7:30 PM.
Stay tuned.

Putting the Roof On

A short string of rainy, humid days have yielded  minimal results, but nonetheless good results.
Printed the roof structure on the rink and some more additional colors.  I'm putting jackets and pants on skaters, (necessary in this weather), and I'll be approaching finish.
Stay tuned.

The Ice is Nice

Got three major stencils pulled and now you can see what's happening.  Still a lot more stencils and colors to add, but from here on in I'll have a nice recognizable image.
Stay tuned.

A Good Day for Printing

After printing a total of eight colors, it's still a little early to see what's going on here. After today, the stencils begin to get more complicated and as soon as I print the "ice", you'll be able to see what this print is all about.
Stay tuned.

Gliding Into the New Year

I'm beginning the printing of a new image for my February exhibition at the Kramer Gallery in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Please put February 7, 2013 on your calendar and plan to come out to the opening at the gallery from 6 - 7:30 PM.
By now, I'm sure you've guessed that this is the ice skating rink on Ellsworth in Silver Spring
(in the same block as the Kramer Gallery).  This is going to be a very colorful piece and I'll be working hard, so please stay tuned.
