Extra Bases!!!

Delighted to have this piece finished and looking so good!  I'll be beginning another new project soon so hope you'll stop by again to see what happening in the studio.
This is a very small edition of only 25 prints!  I don't expect them to be available for very long.

Printing Slowly Now

Making sure I don't miss any little details, it seems I'm progressing at a snail's pace but, in reality, I'll be finished soon.  Go Nats!!!

Six More Colors!

Been so busy lately that printing has been a challenge.  Had a good day today and am planning on cutting stencils tonight while I listen to the Nats/ Baltimore game.  Stay tuned.

What a Difference Four Colors Makes!

Now we can see what's going on at Nats Park.  I'm going to get busy and cut some more stencils so I can "dress" the crowd and identify this Nats" right handed batter.  Stay tuned for more soon.

I'm laughing while I post!

It seems so funny to me to be posting this four color image, but I have to start somewhere.  Actually, in the foreground, you can see the batter's box and the outlines of the batter's and catcher's  feet.  Yes this is another Washington Nationals' image, and yes it will start materializing quickly.  Hope you'll come back soon and see all the activity.

Finished At Last

Spent a lot of time printing and not posting, but finally got this print finished to my absolute satisfaction.  This was such an enjoyable image to print.  I really like printing small editions (25), because it enables me to work with relative quickness and I'm not consuming vast quantities of paper and ink.  All of my materials have become almost prohibitively expensive with the growth of digital printing and the diminishing number of artists hand printing their own work.  With the approach of my Spring show season I've got to shift gears and get ready to exhibit.  I'll be posting a special deal on my Facebook pages for those of you who would like one of the 25 prints in this edition.  Thanks for following my progress!

More Colors Daily

I'm really having fun as I continue to add colors and today, cut more stencils.  This piece is taking on a harmony which makes me just want to add more color.  Don't miss the next post.

Wallpaper & Fruit

Now, after sixteen colors, the composition has revealed itself.  But, in reality I am only one half done.  Much more color to come and the most difficult stencils have yet to be cut.  I'm certainly having a good time and look forward to another fine day of printing.  Hope you'll stay tuned.

Colors Galore

Forgive me for posting this image crooked.  I'm in such a hurry to begin printing this morning that I just snapped a quick shot without the tripod.  As you can see, the image is taking on a whole new persona and will only get more colorful.  It gets much more exciting from this point on.  Hope you stay tuned.

A Good Day of Printing

I have a definite advantage in that I know where I am going.  You don't, but you can certainly enjoy the scenery along the way.  A very good day of printing, (til 10 PM), yielded seven additional colors.  I'll won't be able to print that much today but you'll be surprised how much the image changes next time you visit.

New Project Underway

I'm tired of Winter.  I'm tired of snow.  I'm tired of shoveling.  I'm ready for Spring.  Do you feel the same?  I have designed and am now printing an incredibly colorful image of fruit.  Yes, I went to my local Giant Food store and purchased lots and lots of fruit.  I spent the better part of the day arranging still lifes in the studio until I had an image that excited me.  It's going to be a challenge.  There are more colors than I've printed in a long time.  Hope you'll log in frequently and see this exciting piece take form.  The first four are show here.

Printing is Going Beautifully

The printing is going so beautifully on this piece that I entertained the thought of more snow falling on Washington Grove.  There are many more potential subjects here just waiting for me to capture them.  Don't let my neighbors know that I wished snow on them, they'll send me to Minnesota.  Stay tuned.

Making Good Progress

The printing is proceeding beautifully.  I have the woodstove running at capacity while the windows are open for ventilation.  Seems to work great and I'm not freezing.  Have all the stencils cut and will now get going on my printing. Stay tuned.

It's Snowing Again

I'm happy to be in a wintry mood as illustrated by the beginning of my newest image.  This original serigraph will be the last in my "Grove" winter series unless it snows again.  Then all bets are off.  I stayed up late last night cutting stencils and managed to prepare six colors for printing today.  With a little luck, I'll have a very productive day. Hoping to show a lot of progress on tomorrow's post. Come back and see me.

Another Snowy Finish

What a weekend of printing!  Managed to complete all my printing on this new image in good fashion. This print measures 16 inches wide by 10.5 inches high. It's titled "Grove Snowfall" and is exactly the same size as the last piece, "Winter in the Grove" (designed to fit a 24 X 18 inch mat and frame.)  The edition is strictly limited to only 25 original prints.  The only way you can reserve one is to call my studio "hotline" at 301-840-1897. Believe it or not, I have already started sketching my next design, the final one in this Grove winter series. I don't know where this burst of creative energy has come from, but I feel "supercharged".  Come back soon.

Whole Lotta Printin' Going On!

Moving this image right along with a very productive day of printing.  I've got five more stencils to cut and print and Saturday is shaping up to be a perfect day to do it.  I hope you'll revisit me and see this print in its finished state.

More Snow in the Forecast

I guess I'm in a "snowy" kind of mood.  Here we have the first four colors of a brand new winterscape in Washington Grove, my hometown.
For me, the challenge is to create a scene that's very similar to my just completed "Winter in the Grove", using a totally different color palette.
I'm excited because I'm allowing myself to stretch my color interpretation in a different direction.
Stay tuned and we'll see how this plays out.

A Snowy Finish

Spent almost the whole day cutting the four remaining stencils and then successfully printed them.  I'm so delighted with the outcome that I don't know why I have avoided printing snow scenes for so many years.  I feel invigorated by this print and hope I can find a new image that excites me as much.
I'm going to stroll (and scroll) through my archives and find a new subject soon.  In the meantime, I'll individually inspect and sign this edition(only 25 prints).  I can't imagine that they'll be hanging around the studio for very long.

Four More Colors Printed

Printed four more colors and am beginning immediately to cut four more.  The dark blue green is a huge stencil that will take me most of the day to cut.  It defines the ancient spruce tree that shelters this cottage.  I'll then add black and a white "snow" stencil that will be pure fun!
Please come back and see the progress.

It's Winter in the Grove

I can't remember having created a winter scene without a skier or two, so I decided it was time.  This is a neighbor's home that I have photographed numerous times over the years and typifies the structures here in town known as "Grove Cottages".  This day, the snow was lazily floating to the ground; the huge flakes seeming to be almost as big as my hand.  The silence was wonderful, an air of peace permeating the whole town and everywhere I pointed my camera, a memory.  I must apologize for my enthusiasm in printing eight stencils before posting, but I assure you, there is still much more to come.  I have four stencils already cut and prepared for printing so please stay tuned and see this image come to life.
