Beginning A New Special Commission

It's difficult at this stage, (first four colors), to decipher what my subject will become, but log in and you'll see this new original serigraph develop.
I can tell you now that my subject is the S & S Shoe Repair Shop on H. Street in Northeast, DC.
This is going to be a very nice image when it's completed, but it will take some time for you to be able to tell, because of the abstract nature of the
print initially.  I'll post as I print, as well as prepare for the Frederick Festival of the Arts this Saturday and Sunday,  June 4th & 5th.  The show takes place along the Carroll Creek (canal) in downtown Frederick.   Hope you can make it.

A Super Installation At Lindsay Cadillac

 I created a very special portfolio of photographs of new Cadillacs for Lindsay Cadillac.  The twenty eight images were printed in a 40 X 30 inch format on canvas and installed throughout the dealership.  It's very difficult, in this blog's small format, to experience the impact of these images, but I wanted you to see several.   The staff at the dealership, were all extremely helpful in facilitating my choices for the various sales offices and common spaces.
Additionally I installed a collection of my Washington, DC themed original serigraphs for some great color.

A Weekend At Arts in the Park, Richmond

Spent a very enjoyable weekend at Byrd Park selling my work and meeting
new friends as well as many longtime customers.  This was my 39th year
at Arts in the Park and as an "oldtimer" I must say I'm really enjoying myself.
The weather was picture perfect, (pun intended), and Mrs. Lovelace and her
staff did an incredible job of making sure the show ran flawlessly.  It's great
to participate in a show where the artists are treated with such respect and
kindness. (Not to mention the free donuts and coffee every morning.)

Welcome New Limited Edition! Studio Closed to Celebrate

I'll be taking a holiday from the studio to celebrate the birth, March 6th of my two new twin grandsons, Colton Craig and Easton Jack born to my daughter Laura Kate and her husband Lee.  The boys made their entrance at Frederick Memorial Hospital, weighing in at 6 lbs and 5 lbs 12 oz respectively.  Boys and Mom are doing great and my stock as a babysitter has, of course, become significantly more valuable.  I predict that the boys, along with 2 year old big brother LJ, will become prolific artists. (I have several projects planned already.)

Mural is Finished!

On Friday, March 4, the mural was officially completed with huge thanks to all the fith graders, teachers, staff and parents who generously offered their time and painting skills.  I am so pleased with the final results.  The fifth graders were a talented and joy filled group whose efforts are the highlight of my winter.  Please note in the display cases a few of the terrific designs created by the fifth grade art classes. 

Making Progress Fast!

Made remarkable progress on the mural today due, in large part, to the generous
help of several of the teachers and one parent who stayed after the kids went home and worked with me for two hours.

I'm planning on making the final touch up tomorrow and then I'll post some photos.

The fifth graders and the teachers have all been great and I've enjoyed this project immensely.

Mural Underway!

For the last four weeks in February, I've been visiting a local elementary school twice weekly and working with the fifth graders to design a mural based on the Chesapeake Bay.

With the design work completed, we began painting on the wall in the main lobby of the school.  To ensure that every fifth grader has several opportunities to paint, we've placed them in five person teams, working thirty minutes at a shift.  At the end of the school day, as the kids head home, the teachers and I paint for another couple of hours.  I'm hoping to be finished by this Friday. Will post more.
